In 1989, the Lighthouse Park District established a permanent Lighthouse Preservation Fund. Through capital campaigns, the Fund has been able to undertake development projects on the lighthouse and grounds using non-operating income, separate from the District's tax generated operating budget. Through the Fund, work to restore, preserve and interpret Grosse Point Lighthouse has been recognized with awards for superior achievement from national and regional preservation, museum, and history organizations including:
